Notes:-Logged this one to capture our weekend with the Collinsons at Tanforhesgan campsite near Harlech. Stayed here last year around the same time. Arrived on Friday, Sas drove the van with Haz and I came down with Simba in the Toyota. Tom stayed at home. Did the short climb up the hill side next to the campsite in the evening with Haz, Andrew and Harry. Lovely views out to Porthmadog and Portmerion. Did Barmouth on Sunday which was great with stunning hot sunny weather. Headed home on Monday 25th which turned out to be a dreadful drive home. Packed up in the morning and headed off home with Sas driving the van with Harry. Got into a village called Penrhyndeudraeth about 10 miles from the campsite and Sas collided with another van. As we drove up a street there was a line of cars in the left hand lane which which looked like they were parked. I think some were whilst others were part of a queue for a junction. Sas turned into a gap in front of a van which she thought was parked up. I was following and thought the same. I actually thought why is this guy pulling out without indicating... As Sas pulled in the van driver rolled forward and hit the rear near side of the van. He hadnt seen the open gap in front or Sas turning in... Suspect he was on his phone, there was a gap of at least 2 cars in front of him. If I had a dash cam I would g=have caught it. I also think I would have made the same mistake. We have spent the past few weeks dodging in and out of parked cars and this day was worse with so much bank holiday traffic. Technically Sas is at fault and I was also in the wrong as we were overtaking stationary traffic merged with parked cars. But why the van driver decided to pull forward suddenly and without seeing a big white van which was most of the way into the open space is beyond me but shows he wasnt paying attention. Anyway, poor Sas was really shaken I really feel for her as I dont want this to shake her confidence driving her van. Van driver was quite shitty when he got out. His crappy old shit box had a scuffed front bumper but no other obvious damage. It was a low speed rolling collision so will be interesting to see how the insurance companies deal with it. Crap end to a great weekend.
